Summary
Join Flexport's Trade Advisory team as a Senior Trade Advisory Associate for a 6-month contract. You will support trade advisory projects focusing on trade compliance and duty minimization strategies, performing analytics and reporting, monitoring deadlines, and drafting client deliverables. The role requires proactive monitoring of customs and government regulations, managing project timelines and invoices, and coordinating software solutions. You will interface with CBP, clients, and internal stakeholders, maintaining active communication. This position requires a Bachelor's degree, a Licensed Customs Broker license, and 3-5 years of relevant experience. Strong technical and business writing skills, data analytical skills, and industry knowledge are essential.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university
- Licensed Customs Broker required, J.D. or graduate degree highly preferred
- 3-5 years trade related experience working in house, at customs brokerage, consulting or law firm preferred
- Strong technical and business writing skills
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to stay on top of multiple tasks and projects
- Expertise with Microsoft Office suite and Google equivalents
- Strong data analytical skills
- Strong industry knowledge including classification, valuation, reconciliation, duty minimization and avoidance strategies, government regulations and rulings, and other trade information
- A "compliance first" attitude to keep our regulators happy and enthusiastic about Flexport since we operate in a heavily regulated industry
Responsibilities
- Support trade advisory projects that focus on trade compliance and duty minimization strategies, including Classification, Country of Origin, FTA analysis, FSFE, Compliance assessment, tariff engineering, etc
- Perform, coordinate, and support Trade Advisory analytics and reporting from a variety of sources
- Monitor deadlines and draft client deliverables for multiple projects at a given time
- Proactively stay informed on the latest customs and other government agency regulations, ruling issuances, and industry trends that are relevant to our clients
- Ensure project timelines, statuses, and invoices are appropriately managed and delivered
- Coordinate and facilitate software solutions, automation of data analytics, improvement of SOPs, ACE portal access, applications, and integrations
- Interface with CBP and our clients and offer timely responses, elevating where necessary
- Maintain active communication with clients, customs and other government authorities, and internal stakeholders
- Support Trade Advisory infrastructure and administrative requirements
