Site Reliability Engineer II Observability

Summary

Join the HashiCorp Observability team as a mid-level engineer and contribute to building and improving observability tooling and capabilities. You will be responsible for driving operational excellence, building relationships with engineers and SREs, and making it easier to understand operational posture and resolve incidents. The role involves participating in crucial decision-making regarding observability tools and services, delivering user-focused solutions, and addressing observability and cloud cost challenges. This position requires professional backend software development experience in cloud environments, experience operating AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud infrastructure, and excellent collaboration skills. A customer-centric attitude and a passion for automation and optimization are also essential.

Requirements

• Professional backend software development experience in cloud environments
• You have experience operating AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud infrastructure
• Enjoy working on a variety of scopes spanning software engineering, operations, and SRE
• Worked with SaaS or another type of managed software offering
• You are an expert collaborator and are able to effectively communicate across diverse teams and partners
• You have a customer-centric attitude and willingness to enthusiastically support the engineering teams to help HashiCorp continue to deliver great products and services

Responsibilities

• Be responsible for and drive operational excellence through observability tooling and best practices
• Build technical skills and relationships within a team of engineers and SREs
• Make understanding our operational posture and resolving incidents easier for multiple engineering teams and product systems
• Participate in crucial decision-making related to various observability tools and services, including build vs. buy
• Deliver elegant, user-focused solutions that address the observability and cloud cost challenges we face in our cloud product

Preferred Qualifications

• Interested or experienced in observability practices and how that can enable teams
• Worked to operationalize complex software at scale
• Worked on infrastructure/SRE teams in customer-centric and agile organizations with empathy and compassion
• A passion for automation, optimization, reliability, and operational maturity
