Soc Technical Trainer

Summary

Join BlueVoyant as a SOC Technical Trainer and design, develop, and deliver comprehensive training programs for Security Operations Center (SOC) analysts. You will evaluate training needs, create tailored plans, and deliver engaging sessions, both virtually and in-person. Develop training materials, stay current with cybersecurity trends, and collaborate with SOC leadership to assess effectiveness. Mentor analysts, coordinate with external partners, maintain training records, and support the onboarding of new team members. This role requires strong knowledge of SOC operations, proven training experience, excellent communication skills, and familiarity with SOC tools. A bachelor's degree or equivalent experience is required.

Requirements

• Strong knowledge of SOC operations, threat detection methodologies, and incident response best practices
• Proven experience in training or mentoring SOC analysts or other cybersecurity professionals
• Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex technical topics clearly
• Familiarity with SOC tools such as SIEM, IDS/IPS, firewalls, and endpoint protection platforms
• Ability to develop and deliver training content using a variety of formats and technologies
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple training programs simultaneously
• Experience in curriculum development and instructional design
• Ability to inspire and motivate learners to achieve their full potential
• Minimum bachelor’s degree in Information Security, Computer Science, Education, a related field, or equivalent professional experience

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and implement training programs for SOC analysts at various levels, focusing on security operations, threat detection, and incident response
• Evaluate the training needs of SOC analysts and create tailored training plans to address skills gaps
• Deliver engaging training sessions, workshops, and hands-on labs both virtually and in-person
• Develop training materials, including manuals, presentations, and instructional videos
• Stay current with the latest cybersecurity trends, tools, and techniques to ensure training content is up to date
• Collaborate with SOC leadership to assess training effectiveness and make improvements as needed
• Mentor and provide guidance to SOC analysts, fostering a culture of continuous learning and development
• Coordinate with external vendors and partners to integrate third-party training resources when appropriate
• Maintain training records and track progress to ensure compliance with industry standards and certifications
• Support the onboarding process of new SOC analysts by providing foundational training and knowledge transfer
• Work cross functionally with SOC adjacent teams to help empower and enable them to better understand the service and support our clients

Preferred Qualifications

• 3-5 years of hands-on experience in a SOC environment
• 2+ years of educational, training, and mentoring experience
• Relevant certifications such as GCIA, GCIH, CISSP, or CompTIA Security+
• Experience with e-learning platforms and learning management systems (LMS)
• Familiarity with programming/scripting languages for automation and training exercises
