Social Worker MSW

Summary

The role is for a Clinical Social Worker who will provide Virtual and Telehealth clinical social work services to patients. Responsibilities include short-term tele and video counseling, working with children, youth, and adults, and managing high-risk cases. Requirements are a Master of Social Work Degree, current registration in good standing with OCSWSSW, valid professional liability insurance, 2 years direct experience working with children and families, knowledge of community services and resources in the GTA area, good communication skills, ability to work within a short-term solution-focused model, practice continuous quality improvement, remain abreast of current literature, and be comfortable using video-conference platforms.

Requirements

• Master of Social Work Degree mandatory
• Current registration in good standing with OCSWSSW without terms, limits or conditions
• Valid professional liability insurance
• Minimum 2 years direct experience working with children and families in the community and in a hospital setting through inpatient units, outpatient units and emergency rooms
• Knowledge of the network of community services and resources in the GTA area
• Broad experience of mental health services including case management and crisis management for children and adolescents
• Good communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to function as a team player
• Practice in a manner consistent with the philosophy of continuous quality improvement
• Remain abreast of current literature and changing practice patterns
• Ability to work within a short term solution-focused model
• Ability to clinically manage high-risk cases
• Comfort using video-conference platform

Responsibilities

• Provide virtual short-term tele and video-counselling to individuals dealing with various personal issues to enhance coping skills and improve functioning
• Work virtually with children, youth and adults to provide individualized and/or crisis supports

Preferred Qualifications

Advanced training in areas of clinical assessment and experience in therapies modalities (DBT, CBT, ACT) for children adolescents and their families is advantageous
