Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field
  • 5+ years of experience in mainframe application development and support
  • Proficient in COBOL, JCL, CICS, and VSAM
  • Hands-on experience with tools like File Manager, Fault Analyzer, APA, and OMEGAMON
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities
  • Basic experience with Azure Monitor: configuring, managing, and troubleshooting alert rules

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain mainframe applications using COBOL, JCL, and CICS
  • Analyze user requirements and translate them into technical specifications
  • Write, test, debug, and deploy high-quality code in a z/OS environment
  • Provide L2/L3 support for mainframe applications, ensuring timely resolution of incidents and service requests
  • Use mainframe debugging tools (e.g., Fault Analyzer, File Manager) to troubleshoot and resolve issues
  • Monitor application performance using tools like OMEGAMON and App Performance Analyzer (APA)
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to analyze the impact of software changes and recommend improvements
  • Document technical designs, procedures, and support guides
  • Participate in code reviews, performance tuning, and optimization efforts
  • Support Azure Monitor configuration and alerting for hybrid environments (good to have)

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with DB2 (good to have with knowledge on writing queries) and z/OS/z/VM operating systems
