Software Engineer

Summary

Requirements

• Have 5+ years of experience building production-grade web applications in Ruby on Rails (including flavors of HTML, CSS, JS, SQL)
• Demonstrate a strong interest in DevOps and have put continuous delivery systems in place in previous jobs. Be comfortable working with AWS (CloudFormation, ElasticBeanstalk, EC2, etc.), Docker, CircleCI, or equivalent technologies
• Possess excellent Object Oriented Programming skills and experience implementing non-Rails design patterns
• Have experience building software iteratively using feature flags
• Have experience working in an agile environment
• Have experience writing and managing a test suite using RSpec or equivalent
• Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills and a high EQ
• Demonstrate a growth mindset and an appetite for learning
• Have previously worked on a distributed team and enjoy working remotely

Responsibilities

• Continuously develop our web platform to serve customers, employees, and partners as we launch in new countries
• Launch an expanded product suite in 2025, bringing us beyond our current Employer of Record solution
• Respond to user needs by building validated solutions for their problems
• Build a top-class user experience throughout the application
• Improve our system of continuous delivery
• Apply automation, AI, and no-code solutions to aid scaling of our internal functions
• Deliver quality code that adheres to best practices; participate in code review
• Advocate for the implementation of best practices within the team and the technology
• Consolidate our approach to testing and quality assurance
• Integrate with third-party APIs to achieve desired functionality within our systems
• Ensure data security and compliance with data regulations
• Get involved in customer support

Preferred Qualifications

• Have experience working with queueing systems, e.g., Redis
• Have experience working on strong engineering teams
