Software Engineer

Summary

Join Canva's 12-week summer internship program for Software Engineers, running from early December to late February. This remote-friendly program offers the chance to work on real-life projects, mentored by experienced engineers. The internship includes a campus visit and flexible working options. Successful candidates will have excellent computing and OOP fundamentals, experience with Java and/or Javascript, and a passion for learning and exploring AI tools. The program is open to students completing their studies between 2026 and mid-2027, with working rights in Australia or New Zealand. Applications close on May 11th, 2025.

Requirements

• You are currently enrolled and completing your studies between 2026 and mid-2027
• You are based in Australia or New Zealand and have working rights
• You have excellent Computing and Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) Fundamentals
• You are comfortable working in Java and/or Javascript
• You have the passion to learn and grow as a technologist
• You are excited to explore AI tools and use them in smart, helpful ways to boost your workflow
• You are able to commit to the 12-week, full-time summer program from early December 2025 to late February 2026

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with your assigned team to design, develop, test and maintain your intern project
• Develop and maintain documentation for software development processes, procedures, and guidelines
• Develop your craft with some of the most talented engineers
• Interact with a wide variety of stakeholders from both inside and outside your team to deliver high-quality work in a fast-paced environment
