Software Engineer

Summary

Realm Alliance is seeking a software engineer to shape their team, engineering culture, technology decisions, and development practices. The role involves working on a product with a large degree of white space, directly with the CEO, and encompasses backend engineering, infrastructure, web front-end, integrations, AI/ML, analytics, TAK plugins, and open-source contributions. The candidate should have strong coding skills, problem-solving abilities, and at least 2 years of work experience in a software engineering role.

• Familiarity with core infrastructure/DevOps tools (Linux, Git, Kubernetes)
• Entrepreneurial work ethic
• Strong belief in meritocracy and drive for excellence
• Strong network of world-class engineers, designers, and product managers to help build our team
• Enthusiasm for building at all levels of the stack, from low-level infrastructure details to high-level team building and product work
• Great judgment and intuition about security, testing, code quality, tech debt, and hiring
• Appreciation of functional programming, type safety, and automated testing
• Experience and comfort working on a remote team
• US citizen or permanent resident
• Based in a US timezone

Responsibilities

• Shape Realm's team, engineering culture, technology decisions, and development practices
• Work on a product with a large degree of white space to build into and a large technical surface area
• Work directly with the CEO
• Backend engineering (TypeScript)
• Infrastructure (Kubernetes)
• Web front-end (TypeScript)
• Integrations with third-party services and surveillance equipment
• AI/ML and analytics
• TAK (Server, WinTAK, ATAK) plugins and open-source contributions
• ATAK plugin development in Kotlin

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience or aptitude for adjacent areas: product, design, customer interaction, engineering management
• Experience working at a startup as an engineer, founder, CTO, manager, or tech lead
• Computer vision or other AI experience
• Passion for defense and security technology
