Software Engineer

Summary

The job is for a Developer Productivity Engineer at Whatnot, a fast-growing livestream shopping platform. The role involves building and enhancing the efficiency of engineering teams by creating seamless workflows, automating tasks, and optimizing developer workflow. The ideal candidate should have 5+ years of experience in developer productivity or similar roles, a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, excellent developer experience instincts, prior experience at a hyper-growth startup, experience in a public cloud environment (AWS, GCP) using Kubernetes, Docker, and/or Terraform, exceptional coding skills, and excellent communication and writing skills.

Requirements

• 5+ years of developer productivity or similar experience
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent work experience
• Excellent developer experience instincts
• Previous experience at a hyper-growth startup
• Prior experience in a public cloud environment (AWS, GCP) using Kubernetes, Docker, and/or Terraform
• Expert knowledge of various CI/CD workflows
• Exceptional coding skills and the ability to ship lightning-fast. We primarily use Python and Elixir, but previous knowledge of each is not required
• Excellent communication and writing skills

Responsibilities

• Maintain an efficient CI/CD pipeline to help developers ship the software faster and safer in a structured environment
• Build local environment tooling to enable the engineering team to build and test product features swiftly and safely
• Work with the engineering team to get services deployed across different environments
• Implement and optimize developer workflow to reduce friction and increase productivity
• Providing recommendations for architecture and process improvements
