Summary
Join Twilio as a Full Stack Software Engineer and build new experiences to help customers leverage Segment to enhance customer engagement. You will create onboarding experiences within the Segment app and develop foundational experiences for personalized communication using Twilio services. Collaborate with product and UX teams to define and implement features, understanding the trade-offs between functionality and stability. You will need to make sound architectural choices considering both short-term and long-term product impact. This role involves developing features and APIs, building and maintaining web applications, ensuring UI adherence to best practices, and participating in code reviews and testing. The position requires managing work using Github, Jira, and build/deploy systems, and participation in on-call rotation.
Requirements
- 2-4 years experience writing production-grade code in a modern programming language
- 2+ years of full-stack development experience, ideally in a microservices architecture using languages such as Go, Node JS, Java or Python
- 2+ years of front-end development experience within either communication services or integrations domains
- 2+ years of experience with JavaScript, Node.js, TypeScript, React, and CSS
- 2+ years of experience with GraphQL or REST
- Good grasp of software engineering and how to build a system in scalable and extensive manner
- Experience crafting APIs, like you understand that a good API contract is a critical part of a good UI
- You've worked on high-scale web applications and understand the architecture patterns that make them successful (e.g., well-designed APIs, efficient algorithms)
- Owned and operated services end-to-end, from requirements gathering and design, to debugging and testing, to release management and operational monitoring
- Bachelorβs degree in computer science or equivalent professional experience
- Excellent collaborator. Ability to foster alignment cross-functionally and cross-organizationally
- Schedule: Ability to work non-standard, on-call rotation weekend and holiday hours, shared evenly with all engineers on the team. We believe that we are responsible for the code we write and how it runs in production
Responsibilities
- Develop new features and APIs within Segment for integrating with Twilio products
- Build, test, and maintain scalable web applications and APIs
- Collaborate with product managers, designers, and backend engineers to create seamless user experiences
- Ensure that UI components and APIs adhere to best practices for performance, accessibility, and maintainability
- Participate in code reviews, testing, and debugging to maintain high software quality
- Work with backend teams to design and integrate APIs that power customer experiences
- Rapidly acquire new technical skills and knowledge in a fast-paced, high-delivery environment
- Manage your work through the use of Github, Jira, and our build/deploy systems
- Participate in an on-call rotation for our managed services
