Software Engineer II

Summary

Join Affirm's Contact Experience team as a Software Engineer and contribute to building and maintaining customer-facing platforms. You will break down projects, deliver high-quality code, collaborate with various teams, and support system operations. This role requires 1.5+ years of software engineering experience, proficiency in front-end and back-end development, and familiarity with distributed systems. Affirm offers a competitive compensation package including a base pay range of $125,000-$175,000, 100% subsidized medical coverage, flexible spending stipends, and competitive time off. Requirements

• Have a total of 1.5+ years of experience as a software engineer
• Have experience working on both front-end and back-end development using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Lightning Web Components (LWC) and server-side languages like Python or Kotlin
• Be familiar with the building blocks of distributed systems, and the technologies like AWS, MySQL and Kubernetes
• Master taking a simple problem or business scenario into a solution that interacts with multiple software components, and executing on it by writing clear, easily understood, well tested and extensible code
• Be comfortable navigating a large code base, debugging others' code, and providing feedback to other engineers through code reviews
• Demonstrate through your experience that you take ownership of your growth, proactively seeking feedback from your team, your manager, and your stakeholders
• Have strong verbal and written communication skills that support effective collaboration with our global engineering team

Responsibilities

• Break down larger projects into individual tasks and deliver them in multiple phases
• Consistently generate simple and sophisticated designs, and write high-quality code that can be easily understood and used by others
• Support your peers and stakeholders in the product development lifecycle by collaborating with product management, design & analytics by participating in ideation, articulating technical constraints, and partnering on decisions that properly consider risks and trade-offs
• Support the operations and availability of your team’s artifacts by creating and monitoring metrics, escalating when needed, and supporting “keep the lights on” & on-call efforts
• Contribute to a sense of community on your team by engaging in growth and development activities such as participation in the interview process
