Requirements
- Hold a BS/BA in Computer Science, Information Systems, Information Technology, Mathematics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or similar technology-related degree
- Have previous local, state, and/or federal government contracting experience OR Insurance medical/state leave application experience
- Have a minimum of 8 years of demonstrated working experience with Ruby on Rails
- Have strong demonstrated experience developing UI components with React.js
- Have strong Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) experience
- Have strong demonstrated experience with building out applications and deploying them into production AWS environments
- Have strong proficiency with PostgreSQL databases
- Have strong proficiency with Github actions
- Have strong Pull Request review skills
- Be proficient in web-development including front-end (browser) and back-end (server) including UI components, client-server integrations, APIs, and data persistence
- Be expert in basic git actions like cloning, creating branches, navigating between branches, staging code for commit, committing code, resetting, and merging
- Demonstrate interest in and ability to learn new systems and technology quickly
- Have the ability to discuss technical tasks and team process topics with team members and outside stakeholders
- Have proficiency with advanced Git actions like rebasing, squashing, and cherry-picking
- Have the ability to operate and manage work, strategically reason, and build relationships and influence others
Responsibilities
- Synthesize business requirements and objectives and drive the development of solutions
- Collaborate with talented designers, product managers, and fellow engineers to plan and build new features
- Coach and mentor others to develop their professional skills
- Drive all phases of the development lifecycle from task creation to production deployment of new code
- Design and implement effective, secure software solutions that meet the business and technology requirements of the project
- Articulate business needs and translate them into technology solutions
- Create technical processes that create testable and maintainable software with minimal technical debt
- Troubleshoot technical issues in application and infrastructure code
- Develop and implement plans for the continuous improvement and evolution of the software system
- Identify opportunities and articulate suggestions to improve the technology strategies beyond the scope of a team or project
- Review other developersโ code and provide specific, constructive feedback
- Demonstrate deep knowledge of products/workflows within the businesses they support
Preferred Qualifications
- Have Greenfield / Minimal Viable Product (MVP) experience
- Have an understanding of Agile principles
- Be proficient with at least one front-end technology like React, Angular, Vue, Ember, Backbone, Svelte
- Have experience implementing applications for execution in a containerized production environment; for example Docker in a container orchestration platform like Amazon ECS or Kubernetes
- Have experience developing applications hosted with a cloud provider such as Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform, or similar IaaS/PaaS providers
- Have experience with test scripting frameworks like Selenium and Cypress.js
- Hold a current CompTIA Security+ certification
