Software Engineer Intern

Summary

Join Addepar's Research Engineering team as a Software Engineer Intern and contribute to impactful projects within a 12-week remote internship (June-August 2025). You will work alongside senior engineers, develop production code, and learn engineering best practices. The internship focuses on building frameworks for researchers, data product factories, and high-performance computing. Successful candidates will demonstrate exceptional software engineering skills, strong communication abilities, and the capacity to navigate complex problem spaces. This internship is open to US and Canadian students currently enrolled in a post-secondary institution.

Requirements

• Must be currently enrolled in a post-secondary educational institution (university must be located in the US or Canada) & must be returning to school after internship
• Available to intern for the full 12 weeks
• Extraordinary talent in software engineering. Ability to write high quality code
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Solid understanding of development standard processes and experience working in a team
• Ability to explore complex problems spaces objectively from multiple points of view
• Ability to learn in a fast paced environment
• General familiarity with some of the technologies we use: Databricks, PySpark, Python

Responsibilities

• Work alongside talented, senior and staff engineers
• Ship production code regularly
• Learn and demonstrate engineering standard processes and principles
• Practice communicating up/down/laterally
• Navigate ambiguity
• Produce a retrospective and demonstrate your summer project to an internal audience

Preferred Qualifications

• Linux proficiency, basic shell scripting and a solid grasp of systems level programming is a plus
• Specific experience in or knowledge of financial data systems is a plus
