Software Engineer - Rust - Backend

Summary

Join Kraken's Core Backend Engineering team and contribute to the transformation of the digital assets industry. Collaborate with skilled Rust engineers globally on large-scale distributed systems. The team focuses on developing core systems supporting the exchange, recently rewriting core services from PHP to Rust. This role offers the chance to design and implement robust Rust services and libraries, write efficient code, and work on a security-first approach. Kraken is a fully remote company with a global presence, committed to crypto education and client support. The position is open to ongoing applications.

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience in software engineering
• Proficiency in writing network services or asynchronous code in Rust
• Demonstrated commitment to a security-first mindset when designing systems
• Capability to autonomously debug issues across the stack, including OS, network, and application layers
• Familiarity with distributed systems and technologies, including RPC protocols, Kafka, and Event Driven Systems
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent experience
