Software Engineering Intern

Summary

The job is for an intern position in Plotly's Engineering team working on data visualization and analytics projects using Python, Git/GitHub, JavaScript/TypeScript & React, and other technologies. The intern will work on at least two projects, collaborate with team members, and have the opportunity to learn new technologies.

Requirements

• Currently enrolled in an undergraduate program (or a recent graduate of an undergraduate program) in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related discipline
• Solid understanding of object-oriented programming in Python (our main development language)
• Comfortable using Git/GitHub; previous experience with continuous integration tools is desirable but not required
• Previous experience of front-end development using JavaScript/TypeScript, and React; experience with front-end testing tools like Cypress is desirable but not required
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work efficiently and effectively in a remote-first environment

Responsibilities

• Work closely with Project Leads to deliver solutions using Dash Enterprise and other tools in the Python ecosystem
• Develop custom Dash components to enhance the functionality of our applications
• Contribute to the enhancement of our documentation and example applications
• Enhance our testing infrastructure with more automation, particularly for front-end testing
• Learn, test, and implement new technologies as they arise
