Summary
Join Coalesce, a company focused on simplifying the modern data stack, as a Software Quality Architect. This strategic role will have a significant impact on the engineering organization's quality. You will define the testing strategy, measure coverage, prioritize automation, and scale the QA function. You will collaborate with various teams to ensure high-quality testing across different data warehouse platforms and enterprise configurations. The role requires strong technical skills and leadership abilities to mentor QA engineers and influence other engineering teams. Requirements
- 7+ years of experience in QA engineering or software engineering with a passion for quality and automation, including 2+ years as a software quality leader
- Deep understanding of automated testing methodologies and tools, including unit, integration, UI, and performance testing
- Deep knowledge of testing frameworks (Jest, Vitest, Playwright) and experience building custom testing harnesses and libraries
- Strong technical fluency with modern programming languages (TypeScript, Python, Java, etc.)
- Experience with production observability and telemetry - OTEL, DataDog, Cloud Logging
- Experience building and scaling QA programs in fast-paced enterprise SaaS environments
- Adept at using metrics to drive decisions and measure impact
- Computer Science or related degree preferred
Responsibilities
- Own the QA roadmap: set vision, priorities, and success metrics for test automation
- Design and evolve a long-term automation strategy that aligns with evolving product functionality and realistic customer usage
- Define and track quality KPIs (e.g., automated coverage, flake rate, PR feedback time)
- Build and champion a robust test pyramid (unit, integration, infra) across teams
- Lead realistic testing efforts around dogfooding, performance, and scale
- Build best practices and processes for understanding release quality in production
- Lead and mentor QA engineers, while influencing engineering teams to write more meaningful, maintainable tests
- Provide technical guidance to QA contributors and coach engineers on writing better tests
- Collaborate with DevEx on CI feedback times, test sharding, and flake detection
- Evaluate and roll out new automation frameworks and AI-driven testing tools
- Act as the go-to person for software quality strategy, tooling, and automation best practices
- Advocate for quality as a shared responsibility across engineering
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with cloud platforms (GCP, AWS, Azure)
- Familiarity with enterprise SaaS features: RBAC, PrivateLink, Audit Logging, SSO, SCIM, SAML, OAuth, REST APIs
- Experience or interest in working with SQL data warehouse platforms (Snowflake, Databricks, Azure, Fabric, Redshift, BigQuery)
- Experience working with mission critical high availability SaaS services
- Experience with software products that involve performance and scale
