Summary
Join Energy Solutions, a growing company focused on market-based programs for energy and water savings, as a Solar Programs Associate - Consumer Protection. You will assist in driving customer participation in programs incentivizing distributed and community solar adoption, playing a key role in the clean energy transition. This hybrid position, requiring a minimum of one in-office day per week near Oakland, Portland, or Chicago, supports the Illinois Shines program, protecting consumer rights in the transition to solar power. You will evaluate customer complaints, investigate program violations, and help resolve issues. The role involves collaboration with consumers, solar companies, and internal teams. This position is crucial in helping Illinois achieve its renewable energy goals.
Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree OR a minimum of 2 years of professional experience in lieu of a degree
- Competency with technical topics
- Strong writing and verbal communication skills
- Ability to function as a team player and multi-task between various projects to help meet and exceed program goals
- Extensive experience using Microsoft Office (Office365, SharePoint, OneNote)
- A one-page cover letter will be required explaining your interest in the company and the role (the use of AI is prohibited in the drafting)
Responsibilities
- Maintain up to date knowledge of Program requirements and procedures
- Evaluate participating customer complaints as a member of a high-performing team
- Work with consumers (both via telephone and email) on their complaints and help facilitate resolution of those complaints with the consumer’s solar companies; escalate issues as appropriate to Program leadership
- Investigate allegations of Program violations, make recommendations for potential disciplinary action, and draft disciplinary-related letters to vendors alleged to have violated Program requirements
- Use general knowledge, Program Guidebook, Consumer Protection Handbook, data stored in knowledge-base, and other sources of information to answer client questions and/or resolve issues
- Assist with the stranded customer assistance process
- Update public-facing Consumer Complaint and Program Violations reports
- Follow established Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for complaint resolution and disciplinary action (and others), including communicating directly with solar vendors and customers
- Participate in video conference calls
- Manage or contribute to ad hoc projects on Consumer Protection team and Illinois Shines project
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of Salesforce or CRM
- Customer support experience
- Proficiency in Spanish, including written communication
