Staff Android Engineer

Summary

Join Airbnb's Pricing & Booking Settings team as a Staff Android Engineer to build the next generation of tools for Airbnb hosts. You will collaborate with product and design partners, develop new host pricing functionality, and create technical strategies for new projects. This role requires 9+ years of experience building high-performance Android applications using Kotlin and Jetpack Compose, expertise with GraphQL and REST APIs, and strong mentoring skills. The position is US-remote eligible, with occasional office work. Compensation includes a competitive salary, bonus, equity, benefits, and Employee Travel Credits.

Requirements

• 9+ years industry experience with a Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree, preferably in CS, or equivalent experience
• Expertise building and maintaining high-performance and scalable consumer Android applications, preferably using Kotlin and Jetpack Compose
• Extensive experience working with GraphQL and REST APIs
• Solid engineering and coding skills. Understanding of basic data structures and asynchronous programming
• Ability to mentor and grow more junior engineers (set and drive best practices for Android client development)
• Personal projects that show an aptitude for technical excellence and product sense
• Ability to work in areas outside of your usual comfort zone and show motivation for personal growth
• Interest in innovations within the mobile industry

Responsibilities

• Work with product and design partners to explore problem spaces and devise solutions to customer problems
• Collaborate with other product engineers and partners to develop new host pricing functionality and surface insights / analytics
• With Engineering partners, create technical and execution strategies for new projects and legacy migrations
• Hands on develop, working with teams on edge solutions to problems that come about when developing at scale
• Follow data-driven approaches to find inefficiencies in the build/test/deploy pipeline
• Identify areas of improvement and drive mobile best practices
