Requirements
- Deep understanding of distributed systems and cloud computing
- Experience performing a major architectural refactor
- Experience building, operating, and maintaining high-traffic, high-availability platforms and systems
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to analyze complex systems to identify root causes and implement effective mitigations and resolutions
- Demonstrated ability to drive innovation and propose new solutions or improvements that align with organizational goals
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
- Strong collaborative skills and the ability to work effectively within a team, including remote and distributed teams
- Proven leadership capabilities with experience mentoring and guiding engineering teams
- Ability to adapt to new technologies, changing requirements, and evolving organizational needs
- Availability for participation in on-call rotation
- Authorized to work lawfully in the United States of America
Responsibilities
- Shape Calendly's technical strategy and North Star Architecture
- Guide the design and implementation of services and components
- Provide mentorship, guidance, and decision making to engineering teams
- Work closely with product, design, engineering, and other stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into technical solutions
- Act as a hands-on, key contributor on critical initiatives, delivering high output with high quality
- Participate in planning to define scope, milestones, and work breakdown
- Develop and articulate the vision for a service and its capabilities
- Define a service's strategic value and oversee its evolution
Preferred Qualifications
Experience refactoring a monolithic application into microservices
