Requirements

  • Deep understanding of distributed systems and cloud computing
  • Experience performing a major architectural refactor
  • Experience building, operating, and maintaining high-traffic, high-availability platforms and systems
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to analyze complex systems to identify root causes and implement effective mitigations and resolutions
  • Demonstrated ability to drive innovation and propose new solutions or improvements that align with organizational goals
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
  • Strong collaborative skills and the ability to work effectively within a team, including remote and distributed teams
  • Proven leadership capabilities with experience mentoring and guiding engineering teams
  • Ability to adapt to new technologies, changing requirements, and evolving organizational needs
  • Availability for participation in on-call rotation
  • Authorized to work lawfully in the United States of America

Responsibilities

  • Shape Calendly's technical strategy and North Star Architecture
  • Guide the design and implementation of services and components
  • Provide mentorship, guidance, and decision making to engineering teams
  • Work closely with product, design, engineering, and other stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into technical solutions
  • Act as a hands-on, key contributor on critical initiatives, delivering high output with high quality
  • Participate in planning to define scope, milestones, and work breakdown
  • Develop and articulate the vision for a service and its capabilities
  • Define a service's strategic value and oversee its evolution

Preferred Qualifications

Experience refactoring a monolithic application into microservices
