Staff Backend Engineer

Summary

Join Grafana Labs as a remote Software Engineer in Spain and contribute to the evolution of our highly successful open-source project and Grafana Cloud. We are seeking a seasoned professional with extensive experience in SaaS platforms at scale to help refactor Grafana's architecture for improved scalability and multi-tenancy. You will be responsible for coding new features, enhancing operational experiences, and collaborating with cross-functional teams. The ideal candidate possesses strong coding skills, experience with distributed systems, and excellent communication abilities. Requirements

• Possess strong coding skills and operational experience; be responsible for operating the software you have built
• Have worked on a SaaS platform and dealt with common distributed systems problems (e.g., scalability, multi-tenancy, data isolation, HA, …)
• Have excellent communication skills. Express your ideas with great clarity in writing and during meetings. Know when to pick which mode of communication
• Be willing to work across teams. Align your work with the needs of other squads and external stakeholders. Make your plans transparent, bring stakeholders on board, and be open to feedback and suggestions
• Be pragmatic; prioritize progress over perfection; handle ambiguity
• Be familiar with Golang or be excited to learn the language

Responsibilities

• Code new features, enhancing the operational experience of the systems you develop, and iteratively improving them based on production insights
• Author, contribute to and review design documents
• Take an active role in shaping the roadmap
• Mentor and support other team members and collaborate with different teams across the organization
• Own the experience of our customers by participating in weekday 12h x 5d and a separate weekend 24h x 2d on-call rotations
