Staff Engineer

Summary

Join Spendesk's Infrastructure team as a Staff Engineer and make a strategic impact across multiple teams and technologies. You will lead technical initiatives, mentor junior engineers, and contribute individually to infrastructure code. This role requires 8+ years of software engineering experience, excellent communication, and deep technical expertise in areas like infrastructure-as-code and cloud architecture. You'll work with AWS, Kubernetes, and other technologies in a Fintech environment. Requirements

• 8+ years experience of professional software engineering
• Excellent communication skills, fluent in written and spoken English - it is our business language
• Recent experience in platform/SRE/infrastructure space, working across engineering teams to improve delivery
• Deep technical expertise in infrastructure-as-code, container orchestration and cloud architecture
• Prior experience in backend software development - we’re looking for someone who can collaborate and deliver projects that span across the application & Infrastructure teams
• Pragmatic mindset - ability to adapt to change, navigate ambiguity, take the initiative and proactively solve issues

Responsibilities

• Design, build and operate production-grade AWS infrastructure within a Fintech environment
• Influence and contribute to the technical direction and roadmap across engineering. Collaborate across teams to deliver high-impact technical outcomes
• Mentor junior Engineers, to actively support their development
• Be an individual contributor to our infrastructure code - raising the bar in terms of reliability, quality, security and cost optimisation
• Take ownership of important components within our infrastructure architecture such as CI/CD, observability, container orchestration, disaster recovery, identity & access management, or cloud networking
• Operational excellence - respond to incidents and participate in the Infrastructure team on-call rotation

Preferred Qualifications

Experience of SaaS and/or Fintech is a bonus
