Staff Engineer, Mobile Android Maps

Summary

Join Life360's Core Maps Experience team as a key driver of technical capabilities, owning the entire mapping layer for the Life360 application. You will build and iterate on a new unified maps framework for Android, guide the team on best practices, and partner with product and design teams. This high-leverage role will directly impact customer experience and improve the efficiency of the mobile engineering group. The position requires 6+ years of Android development experience and 2+ years of mobile map experience. Requirements

• 6+ years of Android development experience
• 2+ years of mobile map experience
• Deep understanding of the map ecosystem and data layers that interface with it
• A self-starter who can align and drive technical design decisions
• Ability to rapidly iterate product ideations and drive innovation
• Ability to work closely with visual and motion designers
• Experience working at high-scale, B2C companies
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience

Responsibilities

• Build and iterate on the new unified maps framework on Android
• Guide and teach the team about usage and best practices in working with the mapping layer
• Directly partner with product and design to create best-in-class mapping experiences
• Work with broader architecture groups to define the direction of technology and align future development with it
• Help improve the mobile engineering team's overall ability to work at high velocity
• Help define and guide best practices within our mobile code bases and map components

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with graphics programming or game development
