Summary
Join Steer, a leader in automotive repair software, as a Staff Full Stack Engineer to develop and deploy robust web applications. You will play a key role in designing, developing, and deploying scalable and secure web applications that form the core of Steer's CRM business. This position requires technical leadership in defining frontend architecture, championing code quality and standards, and designing scalable components. You will also be involved in problem-solving, contributing to DevOps practices, and taking ownership of your work. The ideal candidate will have 6+ years of experience in a web-based SaaS role and a deep understanding of RESTful APIs and n-tier web applications.
Requirements
- 6+ years of professional development experience in a web-based SaaS role
- Deep understanding and RESTful APIs and n-tier web applications
- Proven experience with at least one major back-end language and framework (e.g., C#/.Net, Node.js/Express, Python/Django/Flask, Ruby on Rails)
- Hands-on experience with major cloud providers (AWS, Azure, GCP) and familiarity with their core services (e.g., EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, Azure App Services)
- Proficiency with a modern JavaScript framework (e.g., React, Angular, Vue.js) and its ecosystem
- Proven experience designing and implementing scalable and maintainable architecture
- Solid understanding and hands-on experience with both relational (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL) and NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB, Redis). Ability to design efficient schemas, inspect and optimize ORM generated queries, and manage data migrations
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and mentor other engineers
Responsibilities
- Define and drive the frontend architectural vision and strategy for Steerโs products
- Champion best practices in code quality, test automation (unit, integration, E2E), security, and maintainability
- Conduct thorough code reviews and provide constructive feedback to peers
- Champion scalable and reusable frontend components and libraries that bridge between the design system and customer experience
- Identify, diagnose, and resolve complex technical issues across the full stack, often in a fast-paced production environment
- Engage with our CI/CD pipelines, containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and infrastructure as code (IaC) practices to ensure seamless deployments and operational efficiency
- Embody a โyou build it, you own itโ mindset across the stack, always seeking to understand new aspects of the system
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code tools (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation)
- Previous experience in a lead or mentoring role
- Experience with container orchestration (Kubernetes)
