Staff iOS Engineer

Summary

The job is for a Staff iOS Engineer at Scribd to maintain the stability and performance of two key iOS apps (Everand and Scribd), enhance code quality, modernize technology stack, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and mentor junior engineers. The role requires proficiency in Swift, concurrency and threading, architecture design, algorithmic complexity, coding practices, debugging complex issues, refactoring large codebases, and a degree in Computer Science or related field with 8+ years of experience shipping iOS apps.

Requirements

• High degree of proficiency in Swift
• High degree of proficiency with concurrency and threading
• Architecture design familiarity (MVC, MVVM, Viper, Clean Architecture, Redux, etc)
• Algorithmic complexity familiarity
• High bar on coding practices with a focus on performance and best practices
• Demonstrable ability to investigate, diagnose, debug, and solve complex and ambiguous codebase issues
• Proven ability to refactor large codebases, migrating codebase to newer technology stacks and addressing technical debt
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
• 8+ years experience shipping multiple iOS apps to the public

Responsibilities

• Maintaining the stability and performance of two key iOS apps (Everand and Scribd)
• Enhancing code quality and engineering practices
• Modernizing the technology stack and addressing technical debt
• Collaborating with cross-functional teams to define, design, and ship new features in a timely manner
• Mentoring and guiding junior and mid-level engineers

Preferred Qualifications

• SwiftUI
• Objective C
• Building and maintaining XCode CI/CD pipelines
• Web Technologies: Javascript, JSON, REST, etc
• GraphQLTest automation
