Summary

Join Carry1st, Africa's leading mobile games and digital content publisher, as a Staff Level Unity Engineer. You will play a key role in designing, developing, and optimizing high-scale, free-to-play mobile games. Collaborate with a talented team, lead scalable development, drive F2P game mechanics, maintain live operations, optimize CI/CD and DevOps, and mentor fellow developers. This position requires extensive Unity and mobile game expertise, robust technical foundations, and DevOps and cloud knowledge. Requirements

  • Extensive Unity & Mobile Game Expertise: 5+ years of hands-on Unity development, with a proven track record of shipping mobile games—ideally free-to-play titles at scale
  • Robust Technical Foundations: Proficient in data structures, algorithms, and design patterns, enabling clean, modular, and maintainable code
  • DevOps & Cloud Knowledge: Experienced with Git, Jenkins, and cloud services (e.g. Firebase) to streamline CI/CD pipelines and manage game services
  • Passion & Adaptability: Enthusiastic about the mobile gaming industry, thrives in a remote/distributed team environment, and can seamlessly switch between long-term and ad-hoc projects
  • Leadership & Mentorship: Comfortable mentoring teammates, championing best practices, and driving technical excellence across the organization

Responsibilities

  • Lead scalable, high-performance development: Architect and implement scalable game features, ensuring stability, and performance on low-end devices
  • Drive F2P Game Mechanics: Experience in shipping free-to-play mobile titles & crafting engaging game mechanics
  • Maintain live ops and engagement: Continuously refine features with regular events, content updates, and performance improvements to keep players active and satisfied
  • Optimize CI/CD and DevOps: Create and maintain Jenkins scripts, integrate continuous integration pipelines, and streamline build processes for rapid, reliable releases
  • Monetization. Experience in integrating ad mediation, marketing attribution, and other monetization channels—all while preserving an immersive player experience
  • Mentor and advise: Guide developers through code reviews, architectural discussions, and best practices
