Staff Policy Economist

Join Airbnb's Policy & Communications team as a Staff Policy Economist, contributing data-driven insights to community and stakeholder engagements globally. Leverage your expertise in data modeling and analytics to provide meaningful insights within Airbnb and to communities worldwide. Collaborate with cross-functional partners and external stakeholders, navigating diverse environments while independently driving your agenda. The role involves quantitative analysis of high-impact topics, translating complex analyses into accessible resources. You will be a trusted data expert and storyteller, creating visualizations and dashboards to scale data usage across the organization. Requirements

• Advanced degree in a quantitative field
• 6+ years experience in data modeling & analysis
• Ability to perform complex strategic analysis
• Excellent project management, communication, and teamwork skills
• Causal inference techniques (e.g. econometric regressions & quasi-experimental techniques)
• Knowledge of data tools including: R/Python, SQL, Data Visualization, GIS, Excel
• Exposure to the policy and economics domain, or adjacent domains

Responsibilities

• Regulatory impact analysis and modeling, as well as guidance to policy team members
• Using AI/ML models to derive insights from legislation and other unstructured data sources
• Collaboration with academics and experts on policy research topics
• Mapping and spatial analysis of data
• Amazing visualizations to convey key concepts
• Converting insights into “Data Journalism” useful for our communications team
• Building prototypes, dashboards, and other tools to scale data usage across a large organization
