Requirements

  • Emotional intelligence and exceptional communication skills, with the ability to navigate complex interpersonal dynamics, foster a positive team environment, and convey technical concepts in an empathetic and accessible way
  • Proven leadership in mentoring and coaching, with a track record of fostering growth, sharing knowledge, and inspiring security adoption across teams
  • Openness and adaptability, demonstrating flexibility in approach and the ability to embrace new ideas and evolving feedback
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in application security engineering, with expertise in secure coding practices, application security principles, and working collaboratively with development teams
  • Proven experience in designing, launching, and managing Security Champions Programs, ideally within software or SaaS organizations, with a passion for change management and security culture
  • Solid understanding of security frameworks and standards such as OWASP Top Ten, SANS CWE, and NIST, along with a familiarity with knowledge transfer and security awareness initiatives for developers
  • Educational background in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field, or equivalent experience

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement a comprehensive Security Champions Program that integrates seamlessly with existing processes and scales across the development organization
  • Mentor security champions within departments and development teams, fostering a culture of security ownership and excellence
  • Develop and deliver training sessions, workshops, and resources to educate security champions and the broader organization on secure coding principles, application security principles, and other relevant topics, tailored to evolving needs
  • Establish and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness of the Security Champions Program, driving continuous improvement
  • Foster strong relationships with cross-functional teams, promoting open communication and collaboration to achieve shared security goals
  • Lead with empathy and openness, cultivating an inclusive environment where all team members feel valued and empowered to contribute
