Staff Software Engineer

Summary

Join Airbnb's Search team and lead infrastructure engineering projects to enhance the search experience, collaborating with product and infrastructure teams. You will be responsible for improving system reliability, scalability, and performance, while building the next generation search platform. A key aspect of this role involves mentoring and supporting the career growth of individual contributors. This US-based remote eligible position requires a BS/MS/PhD in Computer Science or a related field, along with extensive experience in search and recommendation systems. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills and a proven track record of leading engineering teams. Requirements

• BS/MS/PhD in Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent work experience
• 9+ years of industry experience with a BS/Masters, and 6+ years with a PhD
• Expertise in search and recommendation systems
• A track record of tech-leading engineering teams to deliver technical solutions with high quality
• Great communication skills in collaboration with cross-functional partners

Responsibilities

• Lead search infrastructure engineering projects to improve search experience, in collaboration with product teams
• Up-level search system reliability, scalability and performance, in collaboration with Infrastructure teams
• Build the next generation search platform to power different products at Airbnb
• Mentor, advocate and support the career growth of individual contributors

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with applying GenAI/LLM technologies on search is a plus
