Staff Software Engineer

Summary

Join Datadog’s Software Delivery team as a Staff Engineer and take on a hands-on leadership role shaping the future of software development. You will design and build scalable systems providing developers with end-to-end visibility into their software delivery pipelines. Collaborate with platform teams to integrate Datadog into developer workflows across various platforms. Own projects that enhance developer speed without compromising quality. This role is central to Datadog’s mission of empowering developers, impacting thousands of engineers daily. You’ll drive innovation in the core of modern software engineering—the journey of code from concept to production.

Requirements

• A BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience
• 10+ years of engineering experience designing and delivering complex, high-scale systems
• 4+ years of technical leadership experience, with a proven track record of driving large initiatives across multiple teams
• Deep understanding of software delivery pipelines, developer workflows, and developer experience challenges
• Some experience integrating with SCMs like GitHub or GitLab, and/or building plugins or extensions for popular IDEs

Responsibilities

• Design and own core systems within the Software Delivery suite, such as build and deployment data ingestion, visibility dashboards, and failure diagnostics
• Partner with Datadog for Developers teams to extend Datadog into SCMs, IDEs, and local development tools
• Lead the technical strategy for building and evolving features like live debugging, test visibility, and deployment tracking
• Work closely with product managers, designers, and other engineers to ensure the tools we build are deeply useful, fast, and a joy to use
• Mentor engineers across teams by sharing deep technical insights, guiding architecture discussions, and driving adoption of best practices
