Staff Software Engineer

Summary

Join Datadog’s Software Delivery team as a Staff Engineer and shape the future of software development. Design and build scalable systems providing end-to-end visibility into software delivery pipelines. Integrate Datadog into developer workflows across various platforms. Lead technical strategy for features like live debugging and deployment tracking. Collaborate with product and engineering teams to create user-friendly tools. Mentor engineers and drive adoption of best practices. This role is at the core of Datadog’s mission to empower developers.

Requirements

• A BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience
• 10+ years of engineering experience designing and delivering complex, high-scale systems
• 4+ years of technical leadership experience, with a proven track record of driving large initiatives across multiple teams
• Deep understanding of software delivery pipelines, developer workflows, and developer experience challenges
• Some experience integrating with SCMs like GitHub or GitLab, and/or building plugins or extensions for popular IDEs

Responsibilities

• Design and own core systems within the Software Delivery suite, such as build and deployment data ingestion, visibility dashboards, and failure diagnostics
• Partner with Datadog for Developers teams to extend Datadog into SCMs, IDEs, and local development tools
• Lead the technical strategy for building and evolving features like live debugging, test visibility, and deployment tracking
• Work closely with product managers, designers, and other engineers to ensure the tools we build are deeply useful, fast, and a joy to use
• Mentor engineers across teams by sharing deep technical insights, guiding architecture discussions, and driving adoption of best practices
