Staff Software Engineer

Summary

The job is for a Software Engineering Manager on Twilio's Segment Compute team, responsible for building and scaling systems that process large amounts of data. The role requires experience in engineering management, hands-on production experience, and strong communication skills. The position is remote in India with occasional travel.

Requirements

• BS in a relevant field or related work experience
• 8+ years of hands-on experience building production grade systems and working with data at scale
• 2+ years of engineering management experience
• The ability to communicate well. You can explain technical concepts to cross-functional stakeholders, other engineers, and support teams
• Strong familiarity with agile processes, engineering best practices, and believe in automation over toil

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of backend engineers to scale and operate foundational compute systems
• Set the technical vision for your team and be accountable for team plans and deliverables
• Grow and develop a high-performing team of hardworking and motivated engineers
• Ensure your team delivers high output with strong ownership and impact

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Apache Flink, Trino, Spark, or other distributed compute frameworks
• Experience managing and operating AWS infrastructure
• Experience working in a geographically distributed team
