Requirements

  • Develop data pipelines (7+ years of experience)
  • Build and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines using tools like AWS Glue, DBT, Dagster, or similar orchestration frameworks
  • Demonstrate strong proficiency in Python and SQL for data processing and transformation
  • Build and maintain cloud infrastructure and data warehousing (5+ years of experience)
  • Show proficiency in AWS services such as Redshift, S3, Glue, and IAM
  • Design and optimize data warehouses (Redshift, Snowflake) and manage S3 data lakes
  • Implement data quality and governance (3+ years of experience)
  • Implement data validation, quality checks, and error-handling mechanisms
  • Show familiarity with data governance practices, including metadata management and documentation
  • Optimize performance (3+ years of experience)
  • Optimize data pipelines, queries, and manage large datasets for efficiency and scalability
  • Show knowledge of best practices for high-throughput systems
  • Maintain security and compliance (3+ years of experience)
  • Show experience with data security measures (encryption, role-based access control, data masking)
  • Demonstrate understanding of compliance standards (e.g., HIPAA, SOC 2) and their application in data engineering
  • Collaborate and communicate (5+ years of experience)
  • Show a strong ability to work cross-functionally with data analysts, data scientists, and stakeholders
  • Demonstrate effective communication skills to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences
  • Show adaptability to thrive in a fast-paced startup environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Show experience working in a high-growth startup environment, demonstrating the ability to adapt to rapid changes, evolving priorities, and scaling challenges
  • Show experience with real-time data processing technologies such as Apache Kafka or Kinesis
  • Show familiarity with infrastructure as code (IaC) tools like Terraform or CloudFormation for managing cloud resources
  • Show experience implementing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines for data workflows
  • Show experience optimizing costs in cloud environments, particularly with data storage and compute resources
  • Show a strong background in event-driven architecture and stream processing
