Staff Software Engineer, Frontend

Summary

Join Squarespace as a Frontend Staff Software Engineer and contribute to the development and improvement of our core website building tools. You will work closely with product engineering teams, focusing on architectural strategy and hands-on coding. Responsibilities include creating long-term technical strategies, planning technical investments, implementing project work breakdowns, and collaborating with various engineering teams. This role requires 10+ years of experience in web development, with a strong emphasis on JavaScript, React, and TypeScript. Requirements

• Have 10+ years of experience developing web-based production systems with at least 8+ years of building user-facing products and platforms with JavaScript (including React and TypeScript)
• Have experience building and implementing long-term technical strategy
• Keep a user-first perspective while building your products
• Have experience building out modular UI components that help other teams easily integrate features into their applications
• Want to expand your technical influence and effect across teams while still being a hands-on individual contributor
• Enjoy exploring the intersection between product and engineering

Responsibilities

• Contribute directly to projects that require more senior technical expertise or to quickly address ambiguous engineering challenges across the organization
• Create medium to long term technical strategies for our website product and platform. Clearly and concisely write that strategy and collaborate with engineers across the organization to implement the strategy
• Tie technical investments to business priorities, lead architecture discussions and design reviews, and contribute to product roadmap planning
• Create project work breakdowns for the team, increase how quickly the team can iterate, provide code reviews, and individual feature development
• Work with engineering teams across the company
• Multiply your effectiveness through influence by growing our experienced team of Software Engineers of several levels
