Summary

Join Airbnb's Aircover/Insurance team as a Staff Technical Program Manager (TPM)! Lead complex projects and programs across multiple teams, focusing on system design, engineering trade-offs, and feasibility assessments. Requirements

  • 9+ years of experience as a Technical Program Manager
  • 9+ years of industry experience in technical program management, engineering, or related fields
  • Proven success working with product engineering teams, focusing on end-user products and experimentation
  • Demonstrated experience partnering with platform engineering teams, with expertise in distributed systems and backend infrastructure
  • Strong understanding of experiment-driven development, scalable backend architectures, and data-driven decision-making
  • Highly analytical with the ability to synthesize complex information into actionable insights
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage confidently with executives, tailoring content to the right level of detail and strategic context
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex, cross-functional programs across technical and business teams, resolving ambiguity and driving results
  • Proficiency with task management tools such as Jira, Asana, and Airtable
  • Proven ability to influence and motivate stakeholders across all levels of an organization

Responsibilities

  • Drive the technical delivery of programs, focusing on system design, engineering trade-offs, and feasibility assessments
  • Collaborate closely with engineering teams to ensure the successful development and implementation of technical solutions
  • Identify and mitigate technical risks that could impact program delivery timelines or quality
  • Understand the underlying technical architecture and contribute to decisions on system design, scalability, and reliability
  • Ensure technical KPIs and SLAs are consistently met for the programs you manage
  • Develop and own technical roadmaps in collaboration with engineering teams
  • Bridge the gap between technical and non-technical stakeholders, ensuring technical nuances are well-communicated
  • Create detailed technical schedules and ensure engineering milestones are met
  • Act as the technical escalation point for program-related issues, driving resolution promptly
  • Drive accountability and ownership in a fast-paced environment
  • Ensure alignment on staffing, priorities, and technical dependencies through structured planning processes
  • Provide visibility into key performance indicators, risks, and opportunities to leadership
  • Increase team productivity by identifying and removing obstacles while keeping processes lean

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with regulated technology products, such as digital-native insurance platforms and digital payments, is highly desirable
