Support Data Engineer II

Summary

Join Rackspace Technology as a MongoDB / Elasticsearch / Linux Sysadm / Ansible Engineer and provide 24/7 support for database and automation in a Linux environment. You will resolve database application issues, perform upgrades and patching, manage backups and performance, and troubleshoot operating systems and networks. Collaboration with various teams is essential. The role requires experience with MongoDB or Elasticsearch, Linux system administration, and automation. Flexibility is needed due to the 24/7 operational support. This US-only position offers remote or hybrid work options. The position is not eligible for visa sponsorship.

Requirements

• Possess excellent troubleshooting skills with the ability to resolve issues quickly and effectively
• Have experience managing MongoDB, Elasticsearch, or other database configurations
• Have a good understanding of the Linux operating system, especially Debian and CentOS-based distributions
• Be able to work well in teams with good oral, written, and interpersonal skills
• Be able to communicate technical details and ideas and write documentation
• Be able to work independently as part of a remote team
• Be legally allowed to work in the US for any employer

Responsibilities

• Resolve issues for database application alerts
• Perform upgrades
• Perform patching
• Manage database security
• Manage data restoration and replication
• Manage backups
• Perform performance tuning
• Troubleshoot operating systems and networks
• Work with DBAs, SREs, account managers, and developers
• Respond to customer requests (tickets and chats)
• Monitor alerts
• Monitor the production environment
• Provide acceptable system performance
• Ensure data is protected and recoverable
• Own moderate to complex customer issues
• Work a flexible work schedule, including weekends, holidays, occasional nights, and emergency escalations
• Participate in on-call rotation during regular shift hours

Preferred Qualifications

• Have an excellent understanding of MongoDB or Elasticsearch database concepts and structures
• Have proven experience implementing and supporting enterprise database systems
• Have scripting experience with shell scripting or Python
• Have configuration management and orchestration experience with Ansible, Puppet, or Chef
• Have exposure to a broad range of technologies, especially Redis, k8s, Postgresql, Hadoop, and Kafka

• Colorado anticipated starting pay range: $68,600 - $91,400
• Hawaii and New York (excluding NYC) anticipated starting pay range: $75,100 - $100,100
• California, New York City, and Washington anticipated starting pay range: $82,300 - $109,700
