Requirements

  • Must be located in the Eastern Time Zone
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field; CPA or equivalent certification strongly preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in tax, with a focus on U.S. and Canadian tax compliance
  • Experience in the SaaS or technology industry is highly desirable
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. federal, state, and local tax laws, as well as Canadian tax regulations
  • Familiarity with cross-border tax issues, including transfer pricing and intercompany transactions
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively across departments

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and file federal, state, and local tax returns for U.S. operations, including income, sales, and use taxes
  • Manage Canadian tax compliance, including GST/HST and income tax returns
  • Ensure timely and accurate filing of all required tax documents and payments
  • Develop and implement tax strategies to optimize the company’s tax position in both the U.S. and Canada
  • Monitor changes in tax laws and regulations in both countries, and assess their impact on the company
  • Provide guidance on tax implications of cross-border transactions, including transfer pricing and intercompany agreements
  • Collaborate with the finance team to ensure accurate tax provisions are recorded in the financial statements
  • Prepare tax-related disclosures for financial reporting purposes
  • Assist in the preparation of tax forecasts and budgets
  • Coordinate with external auditors and tax advisors for annual tax audits and reviews
  • Respond to tax inquiries and notices from tax authorities in both the U.S. and Canada
  • Identify and mitigate tax risks, ensuring the company’s compliance with all applicable tax laws
  • Work closely with the finance, legal, and other cross-functional teams to provide tax advice on business initiatives
  • Support the finance team with other tax-related tasks as needed
