Team Lead, Engineering

Summary

Join Algolia's AI Search Group as a Team Lead and lead an engineering team focused on applied generative AI. You will define the technical direction, mentor engineers, make key technical decisions, and ensure high availability and performance of team services. Collaborate with product and design teams to shape the roadmap and interface with various teams to build a strong growth foundation. The ideal candidate has 2+ years of engineering management experience and 5+ years of overall engineering experience, excels in communication, and is proficient in Agile methodologies. Algolia offers a flexible workplace strategy, allowing for remote or hybrid work options.

Requirements

• Have 2+ years of engineering management experience and 5+ years of engineering experience
• Are an excellent communicator able to translate product requirements into technical tasks and vice-versa
• Have a mindset to take data driven decisions and analyzing impact of the changes you introduce
• Are fluent in Agile methodology and can lead a project from the idea to production
• Have worked on AI software solutions in the past

Responsibilities

• Define the overall technical direction and strategy for your team
• Mentor and nurture front and back software engineers and machine learning engineers, helping them grow in their career
• Be responsible for technical decisions taken by the team
• Work alongside the engineers to design and implement monitoring and alerting to ensure high availability, performance and reliability of your team's services
• Improve engineering quality, processes and tooling
• Collaborate with product managers and designers to help define the team roadmap (we follow a bottom-up approach)
• Interface with a wide range of teams to build and evangelize a solid growth foundation

Preferred Qualifications

• You have knowledge about challenges associated to running APIs & idempotent data processing pipelines at scale
• You have experience with Python, Go & GCP
• Are capable of jumping in the trenches with the engineerings — coding, managing incidents, handling on-call
