Requirements

  • Have proven hands-on network and security experience SC-900, CCNA Security, CEH or CISSP
  • Have an understanding of networking protocols (e.g., IPSEC, TLS, SSH, SNMP, 802.1X)
  • Have an understanding of encryption technologies such as AES, RSA, SHA, Certificates
  • Have a strong understanding of TCP / IP principals along with using Wireshark for in-depth network traffic filtering and analysis
  • Have proven experience gained in a security role, with hands on expertise with implementing security measures and protocols
  • Have hands-on experience with monitoring, network and security diagnostic and network analytics tools
  • Have excellent communication and client facing/customer service skills
  • Have proven experience working to ITIL best practices
  • Be able to obtain or currently hold the relevant security clearances (SC and/or NPPV)
  • Have a full, current driving licence
  • Have strong interpersonal/team skills
  • Be self-motivated
  • Have lived in the UK for 5 consecutive years or more

Responsibilities

  • Maintain the network security for internal engineering solutions, such as customer remote access and access to applications
  • Assist with the resolution of security related Incidents
  • Research and the application of security best practices
  • Apply IT Health check remediation fixes
  • Support the wider Network engineering team in solution delivery and continuous improvement
  • Use our dedicated incident management system and liaise with other team members and Service Desk to ensure that all security related Incidents are dealt with within contracted SLA timescales
  • Ensure the proactive monitoring and maintenance of SSS Engineering solutions, installing patches, upgrades etc, ensuring a high level of resilience
  • Configure and install various infrastructure security patches on devices (e.g., firewalls, servers, installed applications)
  • Ensure that all change/project work is delivered on time
  • Select and implement security tools, policies, and procedures in conjunction with the company’s security team
  • When required, create, review and update network & security documentation, for example workplans, work instructions and technical guides
  • Work professionally in liaison with several internal teams to coordinate various activities and gather / provide information required to complete the tasks at hand
  • Work with customers on both a technical and non-technical level requiring a professional and adaptable approach to communication and interaction / service
  • Work both in a team and, potentially autonomously where projects dictate a limited engineering requirement
  • Continually follow and adhere to SSS Public Safety outlined process & procedures
  • Present a professional approach and attitude to all work undertaken
  • Promote a clean working environment. Adhere to all Health and Safety practices, rules and regulations
  • Support the wider network team in completing customer delivery activities as required
