Technical Lead Manager, Machine Learning

Join Handshake as a Technical Lead Manager, Machine Learning, and help advance our AI product and infrastructure vision. You will lead a team of machine learning engineers and data scientists, developing algorithms and ML systems to connect users on our platform. Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related technical field or equivalent technical experience
• 7+ years of industry ML experience
• Experience as Tech Lead or Manager

Responsibilities

• Set technical direction and shape engineering culture
• Identify and adopt industry best practices
• Design effective partnerships across the company
• Mentor and coach direct reports and peers
• Manage a lean team of machine learning engineers and data scientists
• Enable effective collaboration, high-quality execution, and technical excellence across the Data organization
• Develop algorithms and Machine Learning systems that connect users across the Handshake marketplace
• Work with product managers in driving new user experiences through Machine Learning and Natural Language Processing
• Build experiments that drive key product decisions and provide invaluable insights

Preferred Qualifications

• End-to-End experience building web-scale AI systems, feature stores, microservices
• Background in one or more of the following areas of machine learning: recommendations, optimization, natural language processing (NLP), deep learning, LLMs, explainable AI
• Experience building applications atop of IAAS (Google Cloud Platform, Amazon Web Services, Azure Cloud Services, etc.)
• Experience working directly with cross-functional teams such as product management, analytics, engineering, and design
• Excellent communication skills — ability to succinctly communicate results and tell compelling stories with data to an out-of-domain audience (e.g. presenting findings and deep-dives to senior leadership)
