Summary

The job is for a Technical Services Lead, Fleet & Interview Room position at Axon, reporting to the Deployment Team Manager. The role involves leading the deployment of network, hardware, and software solutions for Axon's Fleet systems and Axon Interview Room. The employee will be responsible for coordinating installations, providing guidance to customers, developing documentation, and conducting training sessions. The job requires technical acumen in various areas such as network components, IP cameras, microphones, low voltage components, A/V and Network cable terminations, Windows Server, TCP/IP layers, local area networking, physical layer infrastructure, programming IP-based Ethernet networks, building codes, fire ratings, cable ratings, ICT standards, BICSI, 12-volt electronics, vehicle lighting systems, vehicle communication systems, data transfer concepts, WAN access types, wireless technologies, access point networks, and virtual private networking. The job is remote in Canada with travel expectations of 80% within Canada.

Requirements

  • Experience with network components, IP cameras, microphones, network cabling infrastructure, and low voltage components
  • Proficiency in A/V and Network cable terminations and testing
  • Knowledge of Windows Server, Windows operating systems, and application software/hardware configurations
  • Understanding of TCP/IP layers, local area networking, and physical layer infrastructure
  • Experience programming IP-based Ethernet networks and devices, including layer 2, LAN, WAN, and VPN configurations
  • Familiarity with building codes, fire ratings, cable ratings, ICT standards, and BICSI
  • Comprehensive understanding of 12-volt electronics, basic wiring diagrams, DC circuit theory, mechanical dexterity, and troubleshooting skills (Emergency Vehicle Technician or AEAT certifications preferred)
  • Proficiency with 12V power distribution, relays, fuses, and circuit breakers
  • Experience with vehicle lighting systems, including emergency lights and sirens
  • Knowledge of 12V battery systems, including battery isolators and auxiliary battery setups
  • Familiarity with vehicle communication systems, including CAN bus and LIN Bus
  • Ability to conduct diagnostics and repairs or replacement of faulty equipment, wiring, and electrical systems
  • Knowledge of Cradlepoint routers or equivalent, including configuration, implementation, and deployment (NCOS, NetCloud) an asset
  • Familiarity with data transfer concepts, WAN access types, local area networking, physical layer infrastructure, wireless technologies, access point networks, and virtual private networking
  • Ability to quickly understand and troubleshoot network connectivity issues
  • Experience with law enforcement agencies is highly valued
  • Ability to work safely and skillfully with hand tools
  • Proven team leadership skills, supporting customers and third parties to achieve objectives
  • Previous experience in leading a team or contractors on multiple projects with successful outcomes
  • Exceptional communication skills, professionalism, and ability to work both within a team and independently
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Desire to work with a team or visit clients in person weekly. (Candidates must reside within reasonable proximity to a major airport.)

Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate Fleet and Interview room installations, ensuring efficiency and a positive customer experience
  • Keep 3rd party installers and Axon customers updated on installation status through daily reports and stand-up meetings
  • Ensure regular and reliable attendance, demonstrating commitment to work responsibilities
  • Deploy hardware and software solutions in a dynamic environment with minimal assistance
  • Exhibit flexibility to undertake additional projects and adapt to evolving priorities
  • Provide guidance to customers on optimal hardware placement, tailoring solutions to enhance workflows and ensure compliant data collection
  • Develop accurate installation diagrams and thorough documentation for implemented solutions
  • Provide administrative support for vendor setup, clearances, tracking, and maintenance of work orders
  • Engage with key technology decision-makers post-sale
  • Conduct training sessions for both technical and non-technical staff on the use of Axon Fleet and Interview solutions
  • Train customer technical and non-technical staff and 12V low-voltage sub-contractors on proper installation and use of Axon hardware and software components
