Requirements

  • Undergrad required; Undergrad or Masters in an engineering discipline preferred
  • 3+ years of automotive, robotics, aerospace or related industry experience
  • Experience with requirements and metrics for driving behavior evaluations
  • Experience with root causing complex systems in structured and unstructured testing
  • Experience with methods and standards such as STPA, SOTIF (ISO 21448) and / or UL 4600
  • Strong fundamentals in mathematics, engineering and physics
  • Ability to communicate complex concepts or data in a simple-yet-accurate manner
  • Excellent data analysis skills with modern tools such as Python or Matlab
  • Open-minded and collaborative leader who is eager to provide guidance and has the willingness to help others
  • Passionate about self-driving technologies, solving hard problems, and creating innovative solutions

Responsibilities

  • Own the review process for a driverless system including discovering issues, reporting to the appropriate owners and coordinating resolutions through excellent root cause analysis
  • Act as a liaison between the Systems Engineering team and the autonomy software development teams to drive progress towards Waabi’s product and safety goals
  • Help drive Waabi’s safety culture through application of safety standards and methodologies in your area of responsibility across all supporting teams at Waabi including Systems Engineering, Hardware and Software
  • Define the structure and manner to document and report on specific system and subsystem performance metrics
  • Support the documentation and tracing of all product and system requirements to tests and their executions
  • Continuously evaluate and enhance Waabi’s behavioral evaluation capabilities, look for novel approaches, identify and apply lessons learned and ensure a detailed and comprehensive documentation that is easily accessible
  • Influence tool designs and methodologies to streamline and automate the triage processes where applicable
  • Work with external partners on gathering data and information related to driving behaviors of trucks as well as on supporting a strong safety case for the complete self-driving system

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in launching a driverless product
  • Experience in the automotive self driving industry
  • Experience building software systems from scratch
  • Experience in robotics or machine learning
  • Proficiency with data mining, mathematics, and statistical analysis
