Summary

Join Escape Velocity, a fully remote game development studio, as a UI Engineer. You will collaborate with design, animation, and audio teams to build interactive and performant UI systems for an unannounced project using Unreal Engine, Blueprints, and C++. This role requires professional game development experience, proficiency in C++, and a strong understanding of UI workflows. You will contribute to code reviews, debug runtime issues, and support UI performance. Requirements

  • Professional experience in the game industry, ideally on a shipped or in-production title
  • Working knowledge of Unreal Engine 4 or 5, including Blueprint and C++
  • Solid proficiency in C++ and UI workflows, with a willingness to grow deeper expertise
  • Foundational understanding of 3D math and runtime logic
  • Solid communication skills and a collaborative, learning-oriented approach

Responsibilities

  • Build interactive, performant UI systems using Blueprints, C++, and MVVM
  • Collaborate with design, art, audio, and backend teams to deliver responsive player experiences
  • Contribute to modular UI systems that support scalable feature development
  • Contribute to code reviews, engineering standards, and cross-discipline coordination
  • Debug runtime issues in layout, animation, input, and data handling
  • Help support UI performance and polish across the project

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with Unreal’s Model-View-View-Model (MVVM) framework is highly desirable
  • Experience with game meta-system and interfaces that involve 3D elements is a valuable skill to bring
  • Experience working with cross-functional pods and collaborating across teams
  • A strong interest in games and delivering polished, responsive UI experiences
