Summary
Join Data Society Group as a UX Designer and contribute to building intuitive and functional software for our clients. You will collaborate with clients and the development team throughout the design process, from user research to final execution. This remote role, based anywhere in the US (with preference for the DMV area), requires a Public Trust level 4 background check and US citizenship. Responsibilities include user experience design, rapid prototyping, data visualization, crafting engaging interfaces, cross-functional collaboration, and iterative testing. The ideal candidate possesses 5-7 years of experience in full-cycle software design, a strong portfolio, advanced Figma proficiency, and excellent communication skills. A user-centered mindset and understanding of accessibility are crucial.
Requirements
- 5-7 years of proven experience in full-cycle software design (from wireframing and prototyping to high-fidelity mockups), ideally across a product portfolio
- A strong portfolio showcasing your UX and UI design skills, including examples of rapid prototyping and iteration
- Advanced proficiency with Figma
- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities, with experience working with cross-functional teams and external clients
- Significant experience with usability and accessibility. We strive for full 508 and WCAG compliance, and believe better accessibility is better for everyone
- A user-centered mindset and a passion for creating intuitive products
Responsibilities
- User Experience (UX) Design: Dive deep into user needs with our client stakeholders, creating personas and mapping out user journeys to ensure our software is truly user-centric and easy to navigate
- Rapid Prototyping & Wireframing: Quickly build and iterate on prototypes and wireframes, bringing ideas to life efficiently to test concepts and gather early feedback
- Translate Data into Insight: Examine client data in spreadsheets, databases, and other formats and design visualizations that provide understanding of it at a glance
- Craft Engaging Interfaces: Bring our clientβs software to life with stunning high-impact visual designs, focusing on layouts, typography, and color to create a seamless experience. You'll also participate in reviews to keep things running smoothly
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with client stakeholders, developers, product managers, and other stakeholders; gathering and writing requirements, conducting demos and feedback sessions to ensure client needs are met quickly and smartly
- Test and Learn: Gather feedback, conduct usability tests, and iterate on your designs to continuously improve and deliver the best possible experience
Preferred Qualifications
- Development skills are not required, but are a strong bonus. You will be expected to be able to pull the latest version of your work from a repo and run it locally to test the implementation of your designs
- Understanding data, and the basics of relational databases, mathematics, and data science is a strong plus
