Summary

The job description is for an Underwriting Associate at Lemonade's Underwriting Operations team. The role involves analyzing risk, making strategic decisions, and reviewing new business across multiple product lines. The employee will evaluate home insurance quotes and post-bind reviews based on underwriting guidelines, review requests for scheduled personal property coverage for high-value items, participate in cross-training to eventually review car insurance new business, communicate decisions to customers via email, and apply sound judgment when determining the acceptability of new business within underwriting guidelines and risk appetite provided by the Underwriting Strategy Team.

Requirements

• 1+ year of experience in a customer-facing role within the P&C insurance industry (Underwriting experience preferred)
• Strong analytical abilities and creative problem-solving skills
• Proven experience in making sound underwriting guideline decisions and exercising judgment in both soft and hard insurance markets
• Superior desk management to respond to customers and work within multiple platforms
• Solid understanding of how underwriting influences loss ratios and potential future claim exposures
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
• Adaptive to evolving processes and system changes
• Ability to work effectively in a remote environment
