Summary
Join CareerVillage.org, an award-winning global tech nonprofit, as a full-time UX/UI Designer. You will contribute to the development of our flagship crowdsourcing platform and our new AI Career Coach product. This role involves designing user experiences, developing UI components, collaborating with various teams, conducting design research, and producing design assets. The ideal candidate possesses a mission-driven mindset, understands the challenges faced by underrepresented learners, and has 2+ years of experience in UX/UI web design. Requirements
- Degree or Certification in UX Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Graphic Design, or a related field
- 2+ years of experience working in UX/UI web design
- Portfolio of Relevant Work: Demonstrated experience designing for web and/or mobile, ideally with a focus on products for social impact or education
- Proficiency in Design Tools: Expert use of design tools (we use Figma) for creating wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity visuals
- Understanding of UX/UI Principles: Knowledge of user-centered design, information architecture, and interaction design principles
- Experience conducting user research, including interviews, surveys, and usability testing
Responsibilities
- Design user experiences: Create intuitive, user-friendly, accessible, and visually appealing designs for web and mobile, translating complex user needs into simple, impactful interactions
- Develop and refine UI components: Design and iterate on user interface components, ensuring a cohesive look and feel across our platforms
- Collaborate on product vision: Work closely with Product, Engineering, and Data teams to align design with research insights, business goals, and user needs
- Conduct design research and testing: Support user research and testing efforts, incorporating feedback into new and existing designs
- Produce design assets: Generate wireframes, high-fidelity mockups, and prototypes that guide the development team in bringing features to life
- Broader organizational design: Potentially contribute to other marketing and communications materials for non product work streams
- Champion DEIJ: Ensure designs meet accessibility standards and reflect a commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice

- User empathy and experience or interest in working in the education or social impact space
- Detail-oriented and able to manage multiple research projects simultaneously
- Comfort with ambiguity and use the opportunity to experiment and find clarity
- Strong communication skills: Ability to articulate design choices and present ideas clearly to cross-functional teams
