Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, economics, finance, mathematics, statistics, accounting, or similar quantitative discipline
  • 2-4 years of experience working with lenders providing valuation services to facilitate transactions of small businesses
  • Experience valuing small businesses for lenders under the SBA’s 7a loan program
  • Understanding of financial statements and business tax returns

Responsibilities

  • Working with lenders providing valuation services to facilitate transactions of small businesses
  • Valuing small businesses for lenders under the SBA’s 7a loan program
  • Improving processes in performing valuations and writing and preparing of reports, letters, and other client deliverables
  • Assisting in writing and preparing of reports, letters, and other client deliverables
  • Performing macroeconomic and industry research
  • Reviewing various agreements, documents, research papers, and market research with the intent of capturing salient points to be used for modeling purposes and clearly communicate the key drivers to others
  • Reviewing and gaining a sufficient understanding of the necessary tax and financial reporting guidance governing the analysis

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience performing valuations for financial reporting purposes (ASC 805, ASC 305, ASC 820, ASC 718)
  • Understanding of equity valuation methods such as discounted cash flow, market multiple, market transaction, and option pricing
  • Progress towards external designations such as CFA, CVA, CPA/ABV, or ASA
  • Strong interest in quantitative and economic analysis
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel
  • Capacity to work independently on projects and to mentor more junior staff
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, as well as strong verbal and written communication skills
