Summary

Join Chamberlain University as a Visiting Professor and share your expertise in philosophy, ethics, law, rhetoric, or theological studies with our undergraduate and graduate students. This online position involves developing and delivering a writing-intensive course, PHIL-347: Critical Reasoning, utilizing online technologies to engage students effectively. You will create a syllabus, set clear expectations, grade assignments fairly, and provide timely feedback. The ideal candidate possesses a Master's degree in a relevant field with 18+ graduate credit hours in coursework, along with prior higher education teaching experience and exceptional communication and instructional skills. Compensation ranges from $715 to $1950 per earned credit hour, depending on experience and qualifications.

Requirements

  • A Master's degree in Philosophy, Ethics, Law, Rhetoric or Theological Studies with 18+ earned graduate credit hours directly in coursework
  • Solid subject matter expertise and outstanding communication skills
  • Excellent motivational and instructional skills to be effective in a non-traditional environment
  • Must be able to work in a collegial manner and facilitate the efforts of diverse groups

Responsibilities

  • Develops and provides students with an approved syllabus which includes the terminal course objectives
  • Uses appropriate technological options for online technologies and course-related software, including Websites, e-mail, and online discussions for preparing the course and making it accessible to students
  • Models effective strategied communications that engage online students, provide clarity, and improve student learning
  • Sets clear expectations for the course by publishing course terminal objectives, assignment/examinations dates, and weight the distribution of various evaluation categories
  • Ensures that the content and level of material included on exams correspond to the course terminal objectives
  • Demonstrates consistency and fairness in the preparation and grading of exams, and provide timely feedback to students

Benefits

Compensation ranges from $715/Earned Credit Hour to $1,950/Earned Credit Hour, depending on the candidateโ€™s education and experience
