Based in Latin America and working remotely, you will lead the design, development, and deployment of high-performance applications. You'll build and mentor a high-performing engineering team, define engineering strategy, and ensure high code quality. This role requires 8+ years of software engineering experience with a focus on TypeScript, expertise in JavaScript/TypeScript frameworks, and experience leading engineering teams. The salary range is $7,000-$8,000 USD per month, and the position is for an independent contractor with remote work.

Requirements

• 8+ years of professional experience in software engineering, with a strong focus on TypeScript
• Proven expertise in JavaScript/TypeScript frameworks (e.g., Node.js, React, Angular)
• Strong understanding of software architecture and scalable system design
• Experience leading and managing engineering teams, ideally in a startup or fast-paced environment
• Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and modern CI/CD pipelines

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, development, and deployment of scalable, high-performance applications with a strong focus on TypeScript
• Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing engineering team, fostering an environment of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement
• Define and execute the engineering strategy in alignment with company goals, ensuring timely delivery of key projects
• Set and enforce best practices in coding, testing, and deployment to maintain a high-quality codebase
• Work closely with cross-functional teams including Product, Design, and Operations to drive innovation and ensure alignment across departments
• Proactively identify and address technical challenges to ensure system reliability and performance

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in a leadership role such as Engineering Manager, Team Lead, or VP of Engineering
• Familiarity with Agile methodologies and software development lifecycle (SDLC) best practices
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to thrive in ambiguous situations
• Excellent communication skills and ability to articulate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
