Join LinkGraph, a leading SEO software company, as their Head of Web Development. Lead and mentor a team of web developers, ensuring high-quality work and adherence to best practices. You will be the technical owner of multiple high-profile WordPress websites, responsible for performance, security, and scalability. This hands-on role requires expertise in WordPress development, performance optimization, and modern web technologies. Requirements
- Expert-level experience with WordPress: core, themes, templates, plugins, and custom development
- Deep knowledge of performance optimization strategies and SEO fundamentals
- Familiar with or experienced in headless WordPress implementations (Next.js, Gatsby, etc.)
- Proven track record of delivering high PSI/Core Web Vitals scores across desktop and mobile
- Strong grasp of web standards, accessibility, and responsive design
- Advanced proficiency in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and modern frameworks (React, Vue, Angular)
- Experience with version control (Git), CI/CD pipelines, and modern deployment practices
- Demonstrated experience managing and mentoring web development teams
- Clear history of setting and enforcing coding best practices and QA processes
- High attention to detail, quality-focused mindset, and proactive ownership of website health
- Able to operate as both a leader and individual contributor (i.e., a player-coach)
- Comfortable reviewing code, guiding architecture, and setting the bar for technical excellence
Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor, and evaluate the web development team to deliver high-quality work, maintain coding standards, and implement best practices
- Serve as the technical owner and quality gatekeeper for all our web properties, including: SearchAtlas.com, Linkgraph.com, Linklaboratory.com, SignalGenesys.com, and Mightyscribes.com
- Build and maintain highly performant, scalable, and secure WordPress sites with modern architecture
- Ensure seamless, zero-downtime deployment pipelines using CI/CD and proper staging workflows
- Identify and fix website performance issues, implement Core Web Vitals best practices, and achieve top PageSpeed Insights (PSI) scores
- Establish strong QA processes to eliminate issues like broken links, typos, missing meta tags, and other quality flaws before publishing
- Collaborate with stakeholders across product, design, and marketing to align technical work with business goals and growth targets
- Contribute to and help oversee development of WordPress plugins, templates, and components as needed
- Keep the team informed and trained on new technologies, trends, and tooling, especially around performance and modern WordPress strategies (e.g., headless WordPress)
- Evaluate and continuously raise the technical bar of the development teamβs work
- Own and manage the development budget efficiently, ensuring alignment with company profit margins and delivery expectations
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with plugin development
- Exposure to Shopify, Webflow, Figma (for collaboration with design teams)
- Not required to be client-facing but should be able to communicate effectively with internal stakeholders
