Weekend Writer

Summary

Join Live Science as a Weekend Writer and help manage the weekend operations of one of the world’s biggest knowledge sites. You will be responsible for creating engaging and timely content, writing news stories and features, and posting on social media. The role requires a deep understanding of science, nature, and space, along with experience in a content role on an editorial website. You will report to the Weekend Editor and work remotely. This position offers several perks, including unlimited holiday, a profit pool bonus scheme, and opportunities for professional development. The hourly range is $20-$24 per hour.

Requirements

• An in-depth knowledge of space, science and nature
• Experience in a content role on an editorial website
• CopySub-editing/proofreading skills
• An understanding of digital media
• First-rate knowledge of editorial SEO and analytics toolspackages
• Proven ability to produce high-quality, engaging, relevant digital content

Responsibilities

• Write 3-4 fresh stories per weekend, whether that be short news or longer features
• Create engaging and timely content for Live Science over the course of every weekend
• General editorial responsibilities and working with the content team
